Jointly organised by the HKSAR Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Design Centre, BIP Asia Forum brings IP professionals and business leaders from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in the IP world, and to explore business collaboration opportunities. The sixth edition of the Forum was held on 1-2 December 2016 with great success, featuring over 80 prominent speakers sharing their insights and attracted more than 2,500 IP professionals and industry players to attend. The growing imminence of innovation in a converging world moves IP further up the policy agenda. Global filing activities for IP have increased in recent years, particularly on the Chinese mainland. Under the unitary patent and Unified Patent Court regime, US patent reform, China Patent law amendment and with the effect of Trump’s presidency on IP policy priorities, what’s next for the global policy landscape? In this Policy Dialogue, worldwide IP and Patent Offices will discuss their analysis and insights on the changing landscape, and how it will continue empower innovative hubs.

Plenary Session II – Crafting a Comprehensive IP Strategy for the New World Order

Attributed to the broadening role of IP, the strategic use of IP in a more holistic approach has been a notable trend for value creation. Seated at the heart of a business, IP strategy is advertently aligned with the overall business priorities to ensure vital assets are managed in the most effective way. IP leaders from multinational corporations which own a vast IP Portfolio will share how they stay abreast of the ever-increasing complexity of the IP landscape and effectively integrate IP into their global business strategy.
